Small town Moraga
is a wonderful community with much in
common with the other two neighboring cities of Orinda and Lafayette. It is also a sought after
prestige address with top
rated schools. Moraga is situated about 4+ miles off the nearest freeway,
Highway 24. Because it is location, Moraga has developed the reputation for low
crime, and a quiet serenity not always found in many bustling Bay Area suburbs.
Moraga is really a special community with its beautiful rolling hills doted with
scattered roaming cattle. Best words to describe Moraga: peaceful, strong sense
of community, rural feeling, prestige, friendly.
Moraga Country Club is located at the entrance to Moraga off Moraga Way. As you
drive to Moraga, you come to the beautiful green fairways of the Country Club on
the right. MCC features an 18 hole championship golf course, driving range,
putting green, 25 meter pool, 3 satellite pools, spa, 12 tennis courts, golf
clubhouse and tennis clubhouse, and a private restaurant. There are currently
521 homes (townhomes and detached single family homes) in the Club and they have
Club memberships included with ownership. There are also golf, tennis and
swimming and social memberships available for non-residents. This is a very
popular facility.
A huge asset in Moraga is the beautiful Moraga Commons Park located in the
middle of town on 20 acres. There's an amphitheater for summer concerts,
basketball courts, volleyball courts, Frisbee golf course, bocce ball courts,
play structures for young children, picnic tables, some barbecues, lots of lawn
areas, and a connection to the Lafayette-Moraga-Trail (7.2 miles). The newest
addition being constructed (mid 2003) is a new skate board park on one end of the park.
Moraga has another popular large park at the other end of town, Ranch Laguna
Park.
St. Mary's college is located in town but is tucked away at one corner of town.
It has one of the most picturesque campuses you could ever find. In the winter,
the white chapel is seen with the background of Moraga's lush green hills. In
the summer, the hills turn to our California golden brown. This is the stuff of
postcards. St. Mary's is a real asset to Moraga.
